This cover was produced for the very first Oswald book we put together.

Jeremy of course did a bang up job on the colors as usual, but Matt managed to bring in many different elements from five disparate stories.

On the top left we have a group of Kalsions fighting off a band of Grogs.

This image is from “We were just passing through”. The story goes into how these two different races created a pact binding the magics of the two races to keep mankind from seeing them and how one race attempts to steal one of the two artifacts that makes it possible. Each race was granted one artifact as per their deal.

Working our way to the center we have Ordith and just across from him to his right are Oswald and Diane. This image is from “The Park Avenue Mall War”. This story is actually the first I ever wrote with Oswald in it. If you want to know more about it it's actually up on the Oswald sight under archive. Here's the link [link]
Under about I also have an explanation as to how I came up with the concept for Oswald.

Underneath Oswald we have a bottle Imp from “A deal is a deal” the idea for the story came from a Robert Louis Stevenson short I had read called the Bottle Imp. In the story the bottle is purchased, wishes are granted, and then has to be sold for less then what it was purchased for. If not sold before the person’s death they spend the rest of eternity in hell. Now in my story the bottle was eventually lost and ends up buried in the mall where Oswald lives. Oswald strikes up a conversation with the imp and eventually ends up buying the bottle and we know what that means.

On the far right we have some lady bugs which actually feature prominently in a story called “I was there and I remember” which was subsequently moved and placed into its own book. The story consists of Oswald eating a trained lady bug and having to make restitution to her trainer by going into dream and convincing her mother to give the trainer a replacement. While on this trip Oswald becomes an emperor to a race called the Mar and ends up spending a lifetime in dream.

On the far left is a gecko which is the worldly form of a drake. The title of the story is a
“Drake by my bed”. In this tale the drake seeks neutral council from Oswald who he sees as a good medium between mankind and the fae. The drake tells Oswald of the return of his people and poses the question to Oswald should humanity be abolished from the Earth and the fae with them?
